Bruce Coville

Author Bruce Coville was born in Syracuse, New York (where he lives) on May 16, 1950 and writes young adult fiction. His father was adopted by his aunt and he adopted her last name of Coville. He realized that he was bisexual in his teenage years, while growing up, in what he called, farm country.

The best place to start is the A.I. Gang series, the earliest of Bruce Coville's multi-book series: it opens with Operation Sherlock (1986) and runs to 4 books across 1986, ending with Forever Begins Tomorrow (1986). Bruce Coville's other series stand alone, so they can be read in any order.

Bruce Coville has 258 books catalogued in this guide, published between 1952 and 2022. 211 of them belong to 20 named series — the largest being the Amber Brown series with 12 books — and 47 are standalone titles, collections or anthologies.

Read each series in publication order — the numbered entries in each series follow the year each book first appeared. Bruce Coville's series do not depend on one another, so they can be started in any order; by start date they are Chamber of Horrors (1985, 2 books), A.I. Gang (1986, 4 books) and Nina Tanleven (1987–2011, 4 books), plus 16 more.

This guide splits Bruce Coville's 258 books into 20 named series and 47 titles that stand alone or appear only in collections: Amber Brown (12 books, 1993–2014); Odd (12 books, 1994–2011); Sixth-Grade Alien (12 books, 2000–2022); Magic Shop (10 books, 1991–2015); The Unicorn Chronicles (9 books, 1994–2022), plus 15 further series.
