In her earlier years, she went to the University of California and Los Angeles from where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law. She would later on graduate with a degree in American History and Politics from the same institution. She got a distinction on her masters degree which was on the album Lemonade by Beyonce. Since the publishing of the collection it has received critical reviews from media outlets and been praised by authors such as Candice Carty-Williams and Meg Cabot.
