Then in his thirties, he worked various assignments as a freelance writer. Now into his forties, he lives in London with his wife Nicola and Charlie, his son. He was born in September of 1972 in Hexham, England and his alma mater is the University of Bristol. As a fan of epic fantasy and historical fiction, he got the idea of writing fantasy set during the Iron Age while exploring British hillforts for the Telegraph, and developed a story as he walked Britain’s ancient paths for additional articles.
